Demi Lovato on Being Friends with Ariana Grande

October 2024 · 2 minute read

Demi Lovato has been in the entertainment industry for a long time, and they've made some firm friends along the way.

Opening up in a new interview with Harper's BAZAAR, Lovato explains why their friendship with fellow singer Ariana Grande continues to work so well. Lovato says, "I love the fact that Ariana and I have such a supportive friendship because it's hard to find."

The singer continues, "Two women who are in a competitive industry—the whole world seems to want to pit women against each other, so it would be so easy to do that." Instead, Grande supports Lovato in everything they do and vice versa.

According to E! News, Grande and Lovato became friends in 2013 when they both performed at Wango Tango. Their pairing was still going strong in March 2018 when Lovato told Billboard, "The people that aren't willing to chill with you at home are the type of people that just want to be seen with you. When Ariana Grande and I hang out, it's super chill."

And in August 2019, Lovato celebrated their birthday in London by attending Grande's Sweetener tour. Lovato shared a video from backstage at the concert where Grande and her team celebrated the singer's special day. Lovato wrote on Instagram, "This was too sweet not to post.... before show prayer they did this for my bday 😭 I'm so so proud of you @arianagrande. You fucking killed that!!! I love you tons 💕."
