Dead by Daylight Update 6.1.0 added countless new features, with major gameplay and perk changes to boot. One of those gameplay changes is the addition of a mechanic called Conspicuous Actions.
Many players are wondering what Conspicuous Actions are and how they work, since they affect a lot of popular perks in the game, including Laurie Strode's Decisive Strike. In this article, we'll go over what Conspicuous Actions are and why they matter.
1 June 2023 - We've updated this article to reflect any changes to Conspicious Actions in Dead by Daylight.
What Are Conspicuous Actions in Dead by Daylight?
Conspicuous Actions are a relatively new gameplay mechanic introduced in Dead by Daylight Update 6.1.0.
Only survivors can complete the new Conspicuous Actions, as they do not apply to killers.
Engaging in the following actions constitutes a Conspicuous Action:
- Cleansing or Blessing a Totem
- Healing yourself or other Survivors
- Opening the Exit Gate
- Repairing a Generator
- Sabotaging a Hook
- Unhooking a survivor
Conspicuous Actions come into play with perks that utilize the Endurance status effect, like Off the Record. If a survivor begins a Conspicuous Action while one of these Endurance perks is active, it will instantly cause the perk to deactivate.
Laure Strode's perk Decisive Strike will also be deactivated for the remainder of the trial if a survivor completes a Conspicuous Action while it is active. Conspicuous Actions don't just apply to perks, though; they apply to any and all gameplay mechanics that result in the Endurance status effect.
For example, touching a generator while Endurance is active due to an Anti-Hemorrhagic Syringe will deactivate the syringe's effect. The same applies to the Endurance status effect survivors receive when unhooked.
Developers likely implemented this change to prevent survivors from stacking multiple health states, allowing them to take up to four hits when using perks like Dead Hard, as some users discovered in the Public Test Build.
To further resolve potential balance issues with survivors being able to take multiple hits with Endurance, developers made another key change in the 6.1.0 update: Endurance can no longer be active when a survivor is healthy.
